"The 24th World Gas Conference (WGC) was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, during October 5-9, 2009, under the auspices of the International Gas Union (IGU).
The conference gathered over 3,500 attendees from 83 countries, including energy ministers, senior oil and gas executives, researchers, journalists and students. The event also included a commercial exhibition of 30,000 m2, with 270 stands of key energy players from 81 countries.
For the planning, preparation and execution of the 24th WGC, the National Organising Committee from Argentina was supported by a joint-venture composed of The CWC Group (United Kingdom) and MCI Group (Argentina), two leading Professional Congress Organisers (PCOs) which were selected through an international tender process in 2005.
The service provided by CWC and MCI – comprising permanent support in the overall planning, marketing and management of both the conference and the exhibition; interaction with the speakers, delegates, press representatives and exhibitors; and full responsibility for the handling of all the necessary logistics - was highly professional and effective, and contributed decisively to what was widely recognised as a successful outcome of the 24th WGC.
